Great news to report here
Dr. Elaine Golds, received an Honorary Fellowship from Douglas college, and as she noted in her speech it was the first time that she had been recognized by her acedemic peers, so it was long overdue.
here is the Video
Mike McPhee, introduction starts at 50 : 31, and at 58 : 00 Elaine is at the podium and starts her speech; at 1:03 Elaine Golds is presented with the Honorary Fellowship award.
Sadly for me the video player was NOT working in full-screen mode in
Firefox and Internet Explorer, but it does work in Full-screen using the
Chrome browser, and also did not appear to allow linking within the video to
jump to the start times.
Golds awarded Douglas College top honour
Fellowship awarded for Golds' environmental conservation work
I will add more information and photos to this page as they become available.
Congratulations to Elaine :)

DeBouville Slough dikes
Interesting to see this article in the Tri-City News, writing about the dikes in the DeBouville Slough area; since about a week ago I found two files in the Chilliwack Forest District, Flood Hazard Management FTP site that appears to contain much information about the local dikes, and are sadly password protected. The public pays for it, but we cannot see it. hopefully someone out there can unlock them for us. One file is named Common.zip and the other is appropriately named Coquitlam.zip.
Hopefully the Friends Of DeBouville Slough (FODBS) know more about it.
Happy New Year !
